Sherwood Playgroup
Birth to School Age
AIM
To provide a place for the preschool children of the district to meet on a regular basis where the children can have fun, learn and play together.
To provide a friendly welcoming environment for parents and caregivers in the district to meet, share ideas and get to know each other.
To support children (and parents) with the transition between home and starting school.
We interact with Sherwood School on a regular basis to provide the preschoolers with an introduction to school activities and to meet/play with the “big kids”.
Sherwood Playgroup participates in the school pet day, have visited the school worm farm and watched the school show. The Playgroup children (and Mothers!) enjoy the “big kids” pushing the “little kids” in their cars, playing with them in the sandpit and reading them stories.
GUIDELINES
The group is run cooperatively and each parent/caregiver is responsible for the children they bring.
Opening/closing and bringing morning tea is done on a duty roster system involving all parents/caregivers.
We are a less structured group than a Playcentre, but still welcome your ideas and input into childrens activities. Feel free to bring/set up a special activity or play idea for the children.
We have a great fenced outdoor play area with a big sandpit, playhouse, swings and plenty of room for water play and driving the ride-on toys.
Some of the activities the children enjoy include; baking, playing with play dough, dancing to music and painting. We always have a Christmas party!
